bro, correction about zi chuan. Its not his sister or any relative. In chinese/mandarin there isnt an extensive vocabulary for these words like in english. Also chinese is a blocky kind of language forming structure in blocks and all words are gender neutral....you dont have different forms of a word for different genders.

They literally have the same word for queen and king. And here, sister just means friend. You will see it in a lot of subs. Especially bad, cheaply done subs.

Chinese english speakers do not wish to adapt to English customs and culture usually. They tend to be discriminating/racist and very patriotic. Even if they are open-minded, english and chinese are very different and cultural differences to learn the correct usage of words and phrases are not always taught.

Anyway, we have to bear with it, theres virtually no chinese speaking english doing subs anywhere ever lol. Its always english speaking chinese and their english is shaky.

Somewhere between episodes 10-20 if I remember well, they show the history of the 2 characters. MC family died when he was young. His father early on, he was probably a war hero? It wasnt shown and subs were a bit shaky/shit for that episode as usual lol :), but his mom was sick and in the care of the president - who is the girls father. I think the president owned his mother a favour...he promised her to take care of the boy, as she knew she was dying.

Eventually she died and he was around the mansion. THe girl - the 'sister' had no friends in the mansion her age and was never allowed out. So they become best friends. Actually, the girl pushed their friendships, he was just trying to do his arduous horse stance training that the president forced him to train. Eventually, the president saw his granddaughter was getting a bit too close to MC so he sent him to the frontlines far away from the capital for like 7 years. Then he came back and well, the story starts :) hes all super strong in martial arts and a sort of general of his own, having spent his teenage years on the frontlines.

PS: also about the demon princes. She and sterling didnt make up or end up togheter at all and there is no guarantee currently in the anime that they will. Also there was an episode were we see the family of the demon princess in their capital - the war is far from over the demons still hold much ground, having their own country, a sure threat . It was kind of implied that her family sent her as bait to be captured as they are scheming something. If you think about it, it made no sense for the demon princess to be on that battlefield where she got captured...

Renjia Zui Deyi was better around 20min long but looks like it ended in air we can't have nice chinese shows except trashy 5min filler shows that never ends.
